August 2nd , 2019 I’ll take care of you

I'll take care of you.

Holes in the walls again,

Glass is shattered see what else is broken.

Mouth shut, don't react at all.

One wrong glance and what happens next is your fault.

She cleans up the mess, tries to steady her hands,

Wants to hide all the knives,

But she can't so she decides to say....

She looks in the mirror,

Nobody can hear her,

Felt like there was nothing else she could do,

But then she looked at herself and said,

"I'Il take care of you."

A few years later she's not bruised anymore.

She's teaching herself how to heal what's torn.

But hands have touched her skin

That she didn't intend,

Couldn't really say no because

She's alone and stranded.

Nobody can hear her,

She looks in the car mirror and gives in.

Now she's home and she's crying,

Just wants to die and,

Takes a few pills cuz she's done trying.

But in the morning she wakes up again,

Bruises all over her hips.

But she looked in the mirror,

Nobody could hear her.

Felt like there was nothing else she could do,

So she looked at herself and said,

"I'll take care of you."

She went to work and stayed a few minutes late,

Just enough time for it to begin to rain.

Well when the car stopped at the sign,

The truck behind lost control.

Shattered glass again,

Here come the sirens.

Didn't see the doctor,

Didn't want the questions,

For the handmarks she didn't want to offer explanations,

Pain in her neck but she figured it best

To go home and get some rest,

Because the next day at work she'd have to see the hands that hurt her again.

Overtime she'll keep piecing herself back together,

Parts of her lost

That may be lost forever.

But now everyday.

I look in the mirror,

Where nobody can hear,

and when there's nothing else I can do,

I look at myself and say,

"I'Il take care of you."
